A small grant has been acquired for the purpose of creating an oral history of A Fisherman in English Harbour featuring resident Austin Tucker. Mr. Tucker’s family have been fishing out of this harbour for two centuries. He is now the last of a long line of hardworking Tuckers, and his story will be captured on tape and through photographs. Excerpts of this important piece of work will be available online in July, 2011.

RBC Sponsored Show Showcasing Horsechops Flora

This summer the Art Centre will present the work produced under the coveted Royal Bank of Canada Financial Group’s annual art grant. Vida Simon and Judy Taylor have collaborated on this important study of the unique and diverse flora of the "Horsechops", a beautiful three-mile stretch of coastline adjacent to English Harbour. The show will be displayed for the month of July, 2011.

At the close of the 2009 season the harbour was honored to host well-known artist Gerald Squires and poet Tom Dawes for a shared reading of their book. The beautifully crafted wall, built by the Dan Snow workshop, provided a perfect setting for the event.
