Our Calendar of Events

EHAC offers workshops and concerts each season, creating opportunities for artistic expression and skill development. Based on a curated mix of genres and popularity, and mindful of our superb acoustics, up and coming musicians are invited to perform in our extraordinary space. Workshops are offered whenever teaching professionals visit the Bight and express interest in sharing their craft. Or perhaps an artist in residence will offer a class. Every season is different. Have a look at this season's offerings.

Events for July 2024

  • Jul 06

    Matthew Byrne

    7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
    Fee: $25.00

Matthew is a perennial favourite at the Centre and we're delighted to have him back.
Matthew recently recorded his 4th studio album in Sheffield, UK, and is set to release it in Fall 2024. Folk legend Martin Simpson produced this latest project, which features instrumentation from some of the finest musicians on the English folk scene, including Nancy Kerr, Andy Cutting, Liz Hanks, James Fagan, Louis Campbell, and Ben Nicholls. Matthew Byrnes previous two recordings each won Traditional Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and his highly anticipated 4th recording will grab further attention from traditional audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.

    Mo Kenney

    7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
    Fee: $25.00

Kenney's willingness to unflinchingly pursue their artistic impulses on their own terms has resulted in numerous accolades over the past decade, including a SOCAN Songwriting Prize, a nomination for Juno Adult Alternative Album of the Year, and too many East Coast Music Awards and Nova Scotia Awards to count.

2021s Covers, was an acoustic collection that offered a glimpse into the molecular musical composition of the artist interpreting them. 2022 release, With You, was written, played, and produced by Kenney alone. 2023 will see the release of a new album of original material.

One of the most refreshing things about Kenney is that their performance and stories are completely raw. Their distinctive vocals and outstanding guitar playing are intensified by the simplicity, their songs relatable yet mysterious. A unique singer-songwriter, Mos music has been described as both folk and pop.
Kenney will be accompanied by her good friend Sophie Noel.

    Fortunate Ones

    7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
    Fee: $30.00

Forgive us a sense of possessiveness but we like to think of these two as our home town band. Andrew and Catherine have played the church before but I think they became part of The Harbour when they isolated here during the pandemic. They thought and they wrote and the results can be seen in the material they produced.
"The pair spent a pandemic summer in a little salt box house by the sea, says Allan, writing, refining, and recording songs. OBrien credits a feeling of true freedom - freedom from the pressure of the music business delivered by a pandemic that stopped touring on a worldwide scale, freedom from his own sense of what he ought to be doing, and freedom to simply follow his own curiosity. I led with my heart, OBrien says".
